Overview of diabetes and Best Breakfast Options For Diabetics




Diabetes is a condition that impairs the body's ability to process blood glucose, otherwise known as blood sugar.

In the United States, diabetes is over 30.2 million people with the age of 18 years who not being diagnosed and diagnosed. This figure is between 27.9 and 32.7 percent overall population.

Without careful management, diabetes can cause blood sugar to build up, increasing the risk of dangerous complications, including stroke and heart disease. Different types of diabetes can occur, and the management of the condition depends on the type. Not all types of diabetes occur from a person who is overweight or leading a passive lifestyle. In fact, some have existed since childhood.


Types of diabetes:- 

Three major diabetes types can develop type 1, type 2 and gestational diabetes.


Type 1 diabetes:- 

Also known as juvenile diabetes, it is a chronic condition in which the pancreas produces little or no insulin. Insulin is a hormone that allows sugars (glucose) to enter cells to produce energy.
People with type 1 diabetes are dependent on insulin, which means they must take artificial insulin daily to stay alive.


Type 2 diabetes:-

Type 2 diabetes is a lifelong disease that prevents your body from using insulin properly. People with type 2 diabetes are called insulin resistance. While the body still makes insulin, unlike type I, cells in the body do not respond as effectively as they once did. It is the most common type of diabetes according to the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases, and has strong associations with obesity.


Gestational diabetes:- 

This type occurs in women during pregnancy when the body may be less sensitive to insulin. Gestational diabetes does not occur in all women and usually resolves after giving birth.

What Dr. Rakesh said:- 
"A patient can take one to two eggs because it is a good source of protein. Sprouts are also a good option to add to your breakfast. Both fruits and dry fruits are healthy for a diabetic. A diabetic should check the size of the part with your doctor and make changes according to their body type. Fats and foods with a high glycemic index should be avoided. One should avoid foods that can increase blood sugar levels. Juices, flavored foods, sugar, maida, too much salt, and cream should be avoided."


The steps a person can take to adopt a lifestyle with diabetes include:

1. Eggs:

The most common choice for breakfast is an egg. Egg is loaded with lots of protein which is extremely healthy. For a diabetic patient, eggs are the most healthy breakfast. You can scrape an egg or eat boiled eggs. But do not consume too much of eggs. Add a restricted amount on certain days of the week. It is a quick and very easy option for breakfast.





2. Whole-grain cereal with fresh fruits and Milk:-
Cereal is another most common breakfast. It is another option that you can be added to your diabetes diet. It is having high in fiber which controls sugar levels. But be sure that it is a whole-grain cereal without sugar content in it. You can also add some fruits and a cup of milk with it.




3. Almonds with farm-fresh fruits
Almonds are extremely healthy and packed with nutrition. Almonds are beneficial for a diabetic as well. Magnesium content of almonds makes them extremely healthy for a diabetes patient by controlling blood sugar levels. You can eat 5-7 almonds for breakfast along with some fruits like kiwi, papaya, apple, watermelon, orange, berries, and peach.




"Avoid high-sugar foods that provide empty calories, or calories that do not have other nutritional benefits, such as sweet soda, fried foods, and high-sugar desserts."

4. Oatmeal
Another healthy breakfast option is Oatmeal which can be consumed by a diabetic person. Choose unsweetened oatmeal. It is also easy to prepare which will not take much time to prepare. Add some fresh fruits and almonds on top of it to make it extremely nutritious.




Exercising for at least 5 minutes a week for at least 30 minutes a day, such as walking, aerobics, bike riding, or swimming.
